To develop the small muscles in our hands, we tore paper for an art activity. We used the tiny pieces to make a mosaic of our names.

We read "The Kissing Hand" and talked about how Chester Raccoon's mom helped him prepare for his first day of school. Then, we talked about using kind words and ways to help each other. We learned a very sweet poem that helps us remember to always think before we speak. It goes like this: "Before you speak, think and be smart. It's hard to fix a wrinkled heart." We balled up a piece of paper with a heart on it and found that we couldn't get the wrinkles out. We want to be sure not to hurt anyone's feelings so we don't have any wrinkles.

After our refreshing nap, we explored the indoor play area. We learned about playing with the train table toys and the "No-ends" pieces.

After lunch, we started reading a chapter book called "Waiting for the Magic". We were so tired. Ms. Kim couldn't believe that we all went right to sleep or rested so quietly on our very first day.

Mrs. Annie read "First Day Jitters" to us. This book was about a teacher who was nervous about her first day of school.

We talked about what we did in our centers.

Next, we explored the playground. We learned to be nice, share, take turns, and listen to directions so we can stay safe while we play.
