So, what do you do when it is cold outside but it does not snow. We make our own snow. Yes, we do. We learned about polymers that are in baby diapers. They are used to absorb liquid. We have the same polymers in little plastic bags that we use to make snow. First we felt the white powdery substance to see what it felt like. Then, we added water, a liquid, to it. Before our eyes the powder turned to slush, but then turned back to a damp white substance that looked just like snow. We read books about winter and snow and played in the insta-snow the rest of the week. We had so much fun exploring with different vehicles, toys, and plastic animals. Yesterday, Mr. Bowen even made a snowball with the insta-snow.
